TAI CHI (TAI JI)
The fundamental principle of Tai Chi is based on
Taoism. The movements of a Tai Chi set is based on the principle of Yin
and Yang and Wu Wei which is translated as non-action. The Tai Chi movements
are "natural" and effortless. The skeletal system is in correct
alignment to release tension in the muscles, tendons and joints. Each
movement is initiated from the Dan Tian, or the center of the body, to
promote Qi flow and calm the mind and body.
Tai Chi is beneficial for all age groups and benefits
many health conditions. Tai Chi has been proven to be effective in managing
osteoarthritis, lowering blood pressure and improving balance and coordination.
Studies have shown that Tai Chi is superior at increasing bone density
in post-menopausal women than any other treatment. When practiced daily,
Tai Chi practice can promote a sense of well-being and prevent chronic
ailments.
