John regularly refers to and receives referrals from
Medical Doctors, Chiropractors and other health care providers. These
relationships have proven to be extremely valuable to the patients and
health care providers. John is interested in creating integrated care
through strong relations so patients can receive the best care available.
There is a tremendous body of scientific research
sponsored by United States medical schools and other reputable organizations,
supporting and validating the use of TCM to treat biomedical conditions.
According to a study published in the New England Journal of Medicine,
1 out of 3 patients received care from an alternative healthcare provider
in 1990. The Eisenberg Study, sponsored by the NIH, indicated that 50%
of all out of pocket medical care was for "alternative medicine."
While relatively new in the United States, in many
other countries, acupuncture has played an important role in public healthcare
to provide safe, affordable and effective treatments to patients for over
2,000 years.
As a healthcare provider, you may want to refer your
patients to an acupuncturist for the following reasons:
- Appreciation: Patients referred to
John by their Medical Doctors have expressed a deeper appreciation
for the care given to them by their Medical Doctors.
- Results: We have seen significantly
demonstrable changes, as evidenced by laboratory testing in a wide
range of problems. Some of these changes include:
- triglyceride level drops from over 300 to the mid 80s in
a matter of weeks
- 200 point drops in cholesterol levels
- 80 year old female patient developing normal T score levels
after showing osteoporotic levels of hip and spinal bone mass
a few years earlier

- In Vitro Success: Scientific studies
have shown 40% increases in the success of in vitro fertilization
procedures when used in conjunction with acupuncture.
- Sperm Health: Laboratory results show
a tremendous increase in sperm count, motility, and improved morphology
after a few weeks of treatment.
- Alternative to Drugs: Patients may
benefit from acupuncture when pharmaceutical drugs do not give desirable
results or when the patient cannot take medications due to side-effects.
As a healthcare provider, you can gain satisfaction knowing that you
can give your patients viable options when there are no suitable pharmaceutical
treatments available.
- Alternative to Surgery: Many medical
conditions improve with acupuncture without the need of surgical interventions.
- Support Western Treatments: Acupuncture
is successful at reducing side-effects of western medications. You
can refer your patients to an acupuncturist for adjunct therapy to
allopathic treatments.
- Chronic Disease: Chinese Medicine
is based on the systemic holistic patterns of the individual. Patients
receiving care with Chinese Medicine have shown lower incidence of
and greater recovery from chronic degenerative disease.
- Build Trust: It has been shown that
being able to answer a patient's questions about alternative therapies,
including acupuncture and providing appropriate referrals, builds
trust in their primary physician. Most patients appreciate an open
discussion of complementary therapies.
Referrals to John Nieters, L.Ac. for acupuncture and
